About the Gomo Fortress Tocheon Road

"The Goryeo Founding Father Wanggeon moved southwards to fight against Gyeon Hwon in battle and reach this place. However, he found the road blocked. It happened that a hare fled down the cliff, so he chased after it and found a place to create a road. Therefore, he cut the cliff to build a road." The road name came from this historical story, which was described in the Geography Sinjeungdonggukyeojiseungnam.

Upon entering Mungyeong Saejae Provincial Park, you will first see Mungyeong 1st Gateway, Juheulgwan. The east side features Mt. Juheulsan standing tall, while the west side features Mt. Joryeongsan stretching long as to boast an invincible fortress. Against the expansive green grass field, the fortress gate with a gentle, curvy tiled roof comes into view.
While passing by Juheulgwan, you will see on the left side the site for a time capsule on the fir stump, which was planted to mark the "100th anniversary of Gyeongsangbuk-do". If you go up further, you will see on the left side the "Mungyeong Saejae Open Filming Location" for filming KBS historical dramas. After observing the filming location, walk up further, and you will see the Joryeongwon site with only a stone fence left. Joryeongwon used to be the lodging house for travelers who could not pass over Saejae before sunset.
