About the Pottery

A Feast of Humanity, Earth and Fire! Mungyeong’s Traditional Pottery
Mungyeong’s traditional pottery boasts of not only its potters' skills, but also its time-honored tradition. It also boasts of 900 years of tradition from Goryeo celadon to Joseon Buncheongsagi ware and white porcelain. Such long-time pottery production case is very rare in Korea.
There are many pottery-baking kiln sites for early-Joseon Buncheongsagi ware and white porcelains. Mungyeong pottery still preserves the spirit of old-time potters and the genuine hearts of Koreans, thereby giving it natural and beautiful colors and forms.
Mungyeong pottery was widely used in ordinary life. It was more focused on practical use rather than on pomp and technique, thus giving it genuine and natural beauty. It comes in bowls, broad bowls, dishes, small bowls, bottles, rite utensils, etc. Mungyeong pottery fame has now shot to the creation of Important Tangible Cultural Heritages and maestros. The traditional potters still persistently adhere to the traditional crafting method.
