About the Gyeongcheonho Lake

  • Gyeongcheonho Lake

Clean, deep and wide, Gyeongcheonho Lake is a typical valley type reservoir made by blocking the Geumcheon River, a tributary of the Nakdong River.
The lake features the splendid view surrounded by blazing autumn leaves, the magnificent Cheonjubong Peak, and the awesome sunset. It also features a spectacular scene of migratory birds of winter flying over the snow scene.
The streams which flow through each valley and the Geumcheon river, which starts from Jeokseong-ri Hwangjangsan, fill Gyeongcheon lake. This dam, with its clean water and great views, is a popular fishing area during summer vacation. It is more abundant in fish species and numbers than any other dam because it used to be a treasury of fresh water fish such as carp, catfish, minnows, and perch. This abundance provides anglers not only the sport of catching the Big One but also the opportunity to taste smelts and sweetfish.
